For low FPS in the Loftia demo on Steam Deck, start by lowering the game’s graphics settings. Demo players report uneven performance, and there is no verified universal settings preset or guaranteed frame-rate target for every area.
Steam Deck support is part of Loftia’s stated platform support. That does not establish a particular performance level in the current demo or a Steam Deck Verified rating.
Make one settings change at a time
Lower the graphics settings, return to the area where the slowdown occurred, and compare the result before making another change. This is a troubleshooting approach, not a measured optimum preset. A setting list copied from a powerful desktop PC is not a Steam Deck benchmark.

If settings navigation seems unresponsive on a gamepad, use the D-pad to navigate and adjust settings. Thumbstick navigation is unsupported in the demo’s settings menus. Difficulty changing an option can therefore be an input issue rather than a frame-rate problem.
Check which slowdown you have
| When it happens | What to record |
|---|---|
| During shader preparation before play | Whether loading completes and which demo build you are running |
| In a particular town area | The location and graphics settings |
| When joining an Adventure or travelling with a group | The activity and whether it remains slow afterwards |
The October 21 patch reduced maximum CPU usage during shader preparation. It did not announce a Steam Deck FPS target or confirm that all in-game slowdowns were fixed.
Report a repeatable problem
If lower graphics settings do not give you usable performance, submit the affected location, settings and circumstances with a bug report. Keep frame rates you measure on your own device separate from other players’ reports. There is no evidence-backed basis here for prescribing a particular Proton version, launch argument, power limit or operating-system change.
